Smoke causes minor disruption to CUA Brisbane office
The Brisbane hub office of CUA experienced a brief disruption to service on Wednesday 13 May after smoke was seen coming from a ground floor air-conditioning unit early in the morning.
Workers in all floors of the Eagle Street building were evacuated while fire crews attempted to locate the cause of the smoke, which filled the first three levels of the office building.
The area has been ventilated and it is back to business as usual, as staff have been allowed to return to the building while investigations continue.
Fortunately CUA’s call centre, CUA Direct, is spread across three states, so staff in Sydney and Melbourne were able to handle all phone calls after Brisbane staff were evacuated.
No-one was harmed during the incident.
